About the role
We are seeking to recruit a Quarry Section Manager to run the Isle of Man Government quarries.
As manager for the Island’s leading quarries you will be responsible for two hard rock quarries including inert recycling operation for highway arisings and a conventional asphalt plant. You will use good materials husbandry to conserve natural resources and increase sustainability for this limited Island resource.
This role will offer you a unique and challenging opportunity within the Isle of Man Government, reporting directly to the Director of Highway Services of Department of Infrastructure. You will advise the Director on medium and long term strategic developments including capital investment and implement the agreed strategies.
You will have responsibility for all aspects of day-to-day operations to ensure the safe and smooth running of the quarries in accordance with Isle of Man legislation and Government policy. You will be ambitious and strive to continually improve the area and its profitability. You will also be responsible for 11 staff, with direct responsibility for the Deputy Quarry Manager. You will liaise with clients of all levels and backgrounds including other Government Departments, politicians, private sector companies and members of the public, so excellent communication skills are essential.

This role may also qualify for a recruitment incentive of £3,000 which will be payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
