Hanson is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of construction materials and part of the HeidelbergCement Group which employs around 58,000 people at more than 3,000 locations across 60 countries.

We are seeking a principal geologist to join a team of multi-disciplined professionals in our land and minerals resources department. The team provides a consultancy-style service to all parts of the company, focusing on maintaining a sustainable supply of essential raw materials and managing our UK property portfolio.

This role involves taking the lead in providing specialist geological advice to senior management, including the evaluation of mineral resources, site development plans, input into planning applications, Environmental Permitting and water-related issues.

The successful candidate will be a chartered geologist with a minimum of seven years’ post-qualification experience, preferably in the extractive industries. A self-starter, you will manage the geological function across the regional business lines, working closely with operational colleagues in quarries, concrete, cement and asphalt plants.

You will need excellent communication and computing skills, including competence in the use of LSS software, as well as a can-do approach and be happy working on your own, or as part of a team. In return, we offer a competitive salary, company car, a generous holiday allowance, plus pension scheme with contributions from Hanson and an employee discount scheme.
