Chepstow Plant International are seeking to employ an experienced Plant Manager to help oversee the maintenance of the company’s ever-growing contracting fleet at its head office in Caldicot in Monmouthshire. This job role will involve the management of the company’s team of national field service engineers and promote safe working practices. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong knowledge of the quarrying, earthmoving or construction sector and a strong technical background in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant.
Job Skills required
- 5+ years’ work experience required at this level within the mobile plant management or maintenance sector plus supervisory or management experience
- Must be highly organised
- IT proficient – good knowledge of Microsoft suite and able to use Software programs
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
- Strong technical background and experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant
- Proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrical systems
- Commercially and financially minded when it comes to warranty procedures and call outs
Job Roles & Duties
- Management of Field Service Engineers across all regions
- Promoting and progressing Safe Working Practices
- Working with clients and internally to minimise down time and maximising profitability
- Answer any internal/external technical queries relating to assets or commercial vehicles
- Fleet management including all preventative, reactive and proactive maintenance
- Visit sites and liaise with customers and internal management team
Qualification requirements
- GCSEs (B in Maths & English) – compulsory
- A Levels – preferred but not compulsory
- Qualifications – Formal Engineering Qualification in Plant Maintenance and/or Agricultural/HGV Mechanics (NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds or equivalent)
Job package & details
- Salary - £55,000 - £65,000
- Job Level - Middle Management
- Hours - Monday to Friday; expected to work outside hours where necessary
- Holidays - 21 days plus statutory bank holidays with further options based on seniority and length of service
