A festival of events celebrating the 450 million year geology of the Mendip Hills. A wide range of fun and inspiring events will take place suitable for everyone from general interest level to specialist geology.
This year's festival will start with 'It's A Blast' at Westbury Quarry open day on Saturday 10 August. During the summer holidays there will be a range of events for young geologists and fossil hunters. There will also be escorted tours from Somerset Earth Science Centre into working basalt and limestone quarries in the Mendips. The festival will end with The Geological Society's Earth Science Week from 12-20 October.
