New leading industry event to take place from 24–25 November at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry

LAUNCHED by the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) in partnership with the Building Research Establishment (BRE), a new leading industry event – Intelligent Quarrying 2015 – will take place from 24–25 November at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The two-day conference is set to explore themes and ideas affecting the mineral extractives industry, with particular emphasis on addressing continuous performance improvement by raising standards and leadership.

The event will provide thought-provoking insight and debate focusing on how leadership, employee engagement and motivation will play a part in delivering ongoing improvements in business performance.

Open to anyone working in the industry, each day will have its own agenda to allow delegates to follow the themes of most interest to them. Key highlights of the event will include:

  • Keynote presentations to deliver insights into industry issues and challenges from government construction advisor Peter Hansford, Dr Miles Watkins of BRE and HSE Chief Inspector of Construction Peter Baker
  • An interactive panel debate featuring representatives from key infrastructure projects and extractives operators to share experiences and discuss thoughts
  • A number of shorter seminars delivered by leading industry names focusing on the topics of innovation, health and safety, and people and skills
  • Exhibitors from across the industry to demonstrate latest ideas and trends
  • Informal networking opportunities for delegates to discuss ideas with peers and expand their personal contacts.

Phil James, chief executive of the Institute of Quarrying, said: ‘IQ has a long history and experience of working with individuals in the mineral extractives industry worldwide. Our intent with the Intelligent Quarrying conference is to recognize the good practice and positive progress the industry has made, while stimulating debate about the key areas that will enable the industry to continue to attract talent and develop in the future.’

Tickets for Intelligent Quarrying 2015 can be purchased at a discounted rate for a single day or both days, and IQ members can also claim further discounts. For more information about the event, including how to book, visit: www.intelligentquarrying.org
