New Excavators And Wheel Loaders From Doosan Daewoo

Introducing the latest models from the South Korean manufacturer

Doosan Infracore recently staged an international construction equipment fair in South Korea where they showcased the latest Doosan Daewoo equipment to dealers and customers from around the world.

Of particular interest were the all-new DX range of excavators from 30 tonnes to 50 tonnes — the DX300LC, DX340LC, DX420LC, DX480LC and DX520LC — and the new 18-tonne DL300 and 23-tonne DL400 wheel loaders, all of which will be officially launched in Europe at the Intermat construction equipment exhibition in Paris in April.

The new DX excavators replace the previous Daewoo ‘Solar’ range, while the DL wheel loaders are the first two models in a complete upgrading of the ‘Mega’ range of machines from Daewoo.

Doosan Daewoo currently claim to be the number four manufacturer of construction equipment in the world and believe these new machines will help lift total production levels from 14,000 in 2005 up to 18,000 in 2006.

The DX-Series excavators have been developed from the ground up over the last four years and feature the company's latest Tier 3 engines. Since 1 January 2006 these engines have been a statutory requirement for outputs between 130–450kW, with a phased introduction for lower-power engines over the next three years.

Doosan Daewoo's new engines feature advanced common rail fuel systems with four valves per cylinder and a new combustion system, all providing lower emissions with improved fuel economy.

As well as a new overall style with 50mm wider and more comfortable cabs featuring fully automatic climate control, improved-specification KAB seats and colour monitors, the DX-Series machines have extended service intervals, in-cab adjustment of oil flow for attachments and a facility to activate a unique four-digit password before the engine can be started.

The new wheel loader models also have a completely new look with a lower, rounded profile at the rear and 15% more space within the cabs. Like the DX machines, power is provided by Tier 3 diesels, a Cummins unit in the case of the DL400, which have not only reduced emission levels, but also allowed noise levels to be lowered by 5dB(A).

The DL300 and DL400 loaders will be available in the UK later this year and will be offered with new options such as electric joystick steering and an advanced ride-control system.
