The Mineral Products Qualifications Council is the dedicated training and awarding organisation for the Extractive and Mineral Processing Industries.
Its primary role is to work with the industry to design up-to-date training, qualifications and assessment solutions in order to help employers to both develop and maintain a competent workforce.
MPQC has the support of the major aggregate/mineral companies, trade associations, including MPA; BAA; CoalPro and MAUK, professional bodies such as the Institutes of Quarrying, Asphalt Technology and Materials, Minerals and Mining. We also work closely with Proskills – the Sector Skills Council for Manufacturing and Processing Industries.
MPQC is owned and managed by the industry and is a ‘not for profit’ organisation. Our main Board members are senior directors from each of the major companies with representatives from the trade associations and professional bodies.
MPQC has two divisions:
Membership
Membership is open to any organisation or self employed person working within or supplying services to the Extractive and Mineral Processing Industries.
The main benefits of membership are:-
MPQC has a number of full-time field staff and administrative support who maintain contact with members and who are responsible for the development, quality assurance and organisation of the delivery of training and assessment services. They are supported by a network of approved industry trainers and assessors who deliver training and assessment, as and where required, throughout the United Kingdom.
The Awarding Body offers a wide range of qualifications and accreditation services to the extractive and mineral processing industries. Alongside the current N/SVQs and vocationally related qualifications, there are now newer industry-assured qualifications coming on stream via the Qualifications & Credit Framework.
In partnership with the National Skills Academy for Materials, Production and Supply, the Awarding Body provided accreditation services and quality assurance for all types of training delivered across the sector, ensuring that provision is of the highest quality and meets the current and future needs of employers.
MPQC can assist companies to develop and extend the skills of its workforce as business performance is dependent on people performance and MPQC is best placed to provide this support as it is run by industry, for industry.
