Terex Finlay recycling screen shortlisted for innovation award

Terex Finlay 883 Spaleck

Terex Finlay’s 883 Spaleck screener has been shortlisted for the ‘Manufacturers’ Innovation Award’ at the World Demolition Awards, which are organized by KHL’s Demolition and Recycling International magazine.

Nigel Irvine, sales and marketing director, Terex Finlay, said: ‘Reaching the final shortlist for this award is testament to the hard work, dedication and foresight of our product development and engineering teams. They identified customers’ needs, formulated the concept and built an outstanding machine for the global market place that can be used in a diverse range of applications.’

The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at the World Demolition Awards 2013, being hosted in Amsterdam on 31 October.

According to Terex Finlay the 883 Spaleck is the ultimate in mobile screening and separation technology. It is the result of a joint partnership between Terex Finlay, manufacturers of mobile tracked processing equipment, and Spaleck, providers of static recycling screening technology.

At the heart of the mobile plant is a two-deck German-designed and constructed high performance screenbox. The 883 Spaleck features a stepped top deck design combined with state-of-the-art flip-flow technology on the bottom deck. Its processing capabilities and application flexibility make the machine the only all-in-one mobile solution for processing difficult waste, recycling, slag, C&D, shredded metal, wood, compost, mulch, ores, coal and soil.

Large-grained material can also be screened on a machine with a flip-flow screen deck. The screening deck, fitted with 3D screen segments, is positioned above the flip-flow screen deck to form a cascade, this protects and reduces the stress on the flip-flow screen mats, thereby increasing their service life and producing optimal screening results.

The 3D screen segments with maximum open screen area can be changed quickly and simply due to the modular construction. The screen mats of the 3D flip-flow screen are fastened without screws and have no edges that can cause difficulties. This means that the screen mats can be changed quickly and there is an optimal product flow on the screen mats.

Key features include:

  • Virtually blockage-free screening in the upper and lower deck due to 3D and flip-flow technology.
  • 3D screening segments provide accurate screening with no long pieces passing into middle-grade material.
  • The flip-flow screen with screwless-mounted screen mats avoids unnecessary cleaning and reduces maintenance times.
  • Screenbox discharge end can be hydraulically raised 500mm to facilitate efficient and easy media access and changing.
