TARMAC are set to play a major role in the supply of materials to the British Airports Authority (BAA) following a significant contract win by AMEC.

AMEC have been awarded a non-exclusive ‘2nd generation’ framework agreement covering major civils work at BAA’s seven UK airports. The new agreement consolidates the two existing pavement and infrastructure frameworks.

"As part of the 10-year contract win, Tarmac Southern and Tarmac Northern will supply concrete, mixed to BAA specifications, for pavement and infrastructure works at airports in Scotland and south-east England."

"The objective behind the new framework agreement is to establish an opportunity for material suppliers to work with the BAA for a substantial period of time subject to the delivery of appropriate performance, rather than under formal fixed-term contract arrangements."

"A spokesman from AMEC said Tarmac were chosen because of their willingness to work in an innovative and collaborative way as part of the team, thereby helping to deliver increased value to the customer."
