Tana Oy launch ‘smart’ technology for waste management

Tana drum screen

Finnish company unveils new data service concept designed to enhance business performance

FINNISH environmental technology manufacturers Tana Oy have expanded their line of products with the addition of the Smart Site range. The company’s latest offering is a service concept based on intelligent technology that integrates physical machinery with networked sensors and software, creating an ‘industrial Internet’ to the customer’s site.

Smart Site collects, analyzes and presents performance data produced by Tana machines specifically for customers, so that they can enhance their own business operations and competitiveness. Tana equipment designed for such waste-management activities include: landfill compactors; shredders; chippers; and the company’s recently launched drum screens.

The intelligent drum unit has been designed with versatility in mind. It features a large screening area, a load-sensing hydraulic system and has the ability to drive all of the screen conveyors separately or in both directions.

With Tana’s Smart Site, operators can monitor the plant via the Internet by smartphone, tablet or PC. The smart service concept can also connect to other manufacturers’ machines, so that on-site plant and equipment are merged into a coherent system; increasing the reliability of the operation, enhancing the business processes and engaging all personnel.

A spokesman for Tana commented: ‘Smart Site isn’t just a tracking tool for monitoring the revenues and expenses, but it also offers the client an opportunity to significantly improve its workforce engagement in terms of business performance.

When personnel are on site and they see the same information in real time, they have a better conception of the site’s productivity. Seeing the numbers and understanding the waypoints motivates them to work even more efficiently as they are able to judge performance.’
