Sustainable Aggregates website launched

Mineral Industry Research Organisation launches information gateway for aggregates research and information

THE new Sustainable Aggregates website was launched at the CBI Living with Minerals 4 conference on 7 November 2011.

The new website (www.sustainableaggregates.com) is a portal and information gateway which aims to promote the sustainable production and consumption of aggregates through better access to research and information.

It has been developed to provide a portal to all research and development funded by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF) in England and other relevant research and information.

The website provides a single point of access to information and research for all types of aggregates: land based, marine, recycled, by-products, specialist and imported.

It gives an overview of aggregate policy and planning, links to current relevant consultations and features an extensive library of relevant documents, information and research reports.

The site also contains links to other sites, such as CEFAS and English Heritage, who also hold relevant documents.

The site is for the benefit of all stakeholders – government, local government officers, planning officers, industry, consultants, NGOs and the general public, and as such MIRO says it has tried to ensure that the information is written in a language which is understandable by all.

MIRO has undertaken to maintain and regularly update the site for a minimum of three years in order to secure the ALSF knowledge base.
