Surprise win for employee

Thomas Hammond receives his prize from Chain+Conveyor

An employee of a Stafford plant hire company got a surprise when he attended the recent Hillhead international quarrying and recycling show, walking away with the top prize from an exhibitors stand.

Thomas Hammond, a mechanic at A P Webb Plant Hire Ltd, attended the three-day Hillhead show in Buxton last month [June]. The company is based in Stafford and supplies specialist plant to the rail, construction and civil engineering sectors.

Exhibiting together at the show were Wolverhampton-based Donghua Ltd, the UK arm of one of the world’s largest chain manufacturers, and Chain+Conveyor, a key partner for Donghua and the largest stockists of conveyor chain and sprockets in the UK.

Chain+Conveyor designed a game called ‘Sprocket of Fortune’ which became a real crowd pleaser at the show. Sponsored by Donghua, the simple but effective game attracted immense interest. By spinning the wheel, players could win either chain-shaped air fresheners, branded enamel mugs or enter a raffle to win a large screen 3D TV and digi box with blue-ray.

Thomas Hammond’s winning ticket was picked by one of Chain+Conveyor’s customers: Padraig McDermott, regional sales manager for Telestack Ltd. Representatives from Donghua and Chain+Conveyor visited A P Webb to deliver the star prize to the thrilled employee.
