Second EIG one-day CPD event

‘Surface water, groundwater and flooding in quarries and mines' at the Stratford Manor Hotel

AS in 2013, Extractive Industry Geology Conferences Ltd (EIG) will be holding a one-day event on 17 June 2015 covering live topics in an important area of the extractive industry: ‘Surface water, groundwater and flooding in quarries and mines’.

With recent experience of the wettest winter for 250 years having heightened the need for an up-to-date understanding of the problems associated with planning for water in UK mineral workings, a range of experienced speakers from across the industry will be covering latest developments, case histories and regulatory issues.

The presentations will include, among others: Safety with Pumping and Water in Quarries, by Cath Pickett of the HSE; Regulatory Issues and Water in Quarries, by Nicola Owen of the MPA; Quarrying in Floodplains – A Case History, by Richard Lansley of Golder Associates; Benefits of Quarrying on Flood Control and Water Management, by Clive Carpenter of GWP Consultants; and Developments in Quarry and Surface Mine Dewatering, by Dr Martin Preene of PGC.

This one-day intra-year CPD meeting is expected to excite interest from many of those who attend the main biennial EIG conference, as well as others from across the industry.

The event will take place at the Stratford Manor Hotel, Warwickshire, which is close to Junction 15 of the M40.
