Raymond Brown to open new £1 million recycling centre

Recycling capacity expansion will help company increase its market share for waste-management in Southampton

CONSTRUCTION work on Raymond Brown Waste Solutions’ new Nursling recycling centre, near Southampton, is progressing well as the company aims to increase its market share for recycling and skip hire in the local markets.

Justin Ebbutt, site manager, is working with Terry Churchill, site agent for Raymond Brown Construction’s southern division, and Colin Potter, senior engineer, to ensure that the site remains fully operational during building work.

The project includes a number of improvements and remodelling to the existing site such as safety parking zones for vehicles, car parking, pedestrian routes in and around the new facility, and numerous aggregate bays. There will also be two weighbridges, a double wash-down point and landscaping works.

The £1 million materials recycling centre is scheduled for opening in April this year and will help Raymond Brown Waste Solutions reduce their transportation costs, as well as gain quicker access into Southampton.

Russell Brown, sales director, said: ‘Not only will we be increasing capacity on our existing lorry fleet, we will also be implementing a major sales and marketing push so that we are able to add a further two lorries to the Nursling fleet.’

The regular resident liaison meetings in Nursling have provided positive feedback and Raymond Brown have been praised for their community involvement efforts. Once the new recycling centre is in operation, there are plans for an open day to demonstrate to local residents the importance of recycling and waste-management activities.
