Psion and Connexion2 partner to protect lone workers

Psion, a global provider of mobile computing solutions, and Connexion2, manufacturers of the multi-award-winning Identicom lone-worker device (LWD), are working together to enable enhanced lone-worker protection for users of Psion devices in the field.

Identicom mobile is the original BS8484 compliant lone-worker application for mobile computing devices. The application allows a lone worker much of the functionality of the Identicom lone-worker device but on devices such as the Psion IKon.

Workers who need access to mobile computing and also periodically face elevated risk in their work can benefit from the functionality of Identicom and the rugged nature of Psion’s hand-held devices.

Craig Swallow, managing director of Sheffield-based Connexion2, said: ‘The reasons for protecting your staff are obvious and compelling, both from the point of view of their physical safety through to the business benefits.

‘The need to protect lone workers is an important step towards meeting your organization’s moral and legal duty of care. But essentially, aside from protecting lone workers simply being ‘the right thing to do’, employers are reducing the many costs and potential risks to their employees and the organization which arise from lone-working issues.’

John McMeeking, UK managing director of Psion, added: ‘Enabling the mobile workforce wherever they are and whatever conditions they have to work in has always been Psion’s main goal. By partnering with Connexion2, we are able to enhance the service we provide and provide reassurance for lone workers that they are safe and protected while using Psion devices in the field.’
