Proskills gains Registered Charity status

Switch to charitable status will ensure Proskills UK Group is able to continue its skills and careers legacy

OVER the past 10 years Proskills UK has played a key role in supporting employers from the materials, production and supply industries, including extractives, to develop employee skill levels and associated careers information.

In more recent years, in line with government changes to the skills system, Proskills has transformed its operation into a totally self-funding sector skills organization that continues to serve those people looking to enter or advance in their career.

To ensure that the Proskills UK Group is able to continue its skills and careers legacy, it has recently become a Registered Charity with the charitable aims to:

  • promote, advance, and provide training and education for persons working in or intending to work in the materials, production and supply industries
  • promote, advance, and provide training and education in health and safety.

The Proskills charity is home to its successful Skills Into Industry programmes, such as PrintIT and MakeIT, in addition to its careers information and careers ladders.

Proskills will, through its development of apprenticeships frameworks (including the much heralded ‘Trailblazers’), national occupational standards and vocational qualifications, promote, advance and provide workplace and industry training and education for all.

The National Skills Academy remains a trading arm of the charity, providing a wide range of skills and training services, and support to individuals, employers and industries; it also continues to work with a range of governments and industry-recognized partners across the UK and globe to ensure that the skills systems deliver in a way that supports sustainable growth and employment.

The Proskills UK Group has expanded its range of activity through a transferable skills model that can be applied in any sector and country. Globally, Proskills manages a broad range of large- and small-scale, employer-, industry- and grant-funded activities supporting those entering, progressing through and remaining in industry.

Proskills UK’s longevity and breadth of combined industry and skills experience gives it a unique and comprehensive understanding of vocational skill policy, delivery systems, provision capacity, and business impact. More importantly, all of this means Proskills can provide careers and skills support to all that is functional, dynamic and fit for purpose.
