‘Oddball’ Open Days

Friends of St Aidan’s BE1150 Walking Dragline announce dates of ‘Oddball’ open days in 2012

FREINDS of St Aidan’s BE1150 Walking Dragline have announced the dates of their 2012 open days when visitors to the former St Aidan’s opencast coal site at Swillington, near Leeds, can have a look round ‘Oddball’ – the largest preserved walking dragline in western Europe.

Visitors will be able to look round inside the machine, sit in the driver’s seat and gaze in awe at the 25 cubic yard bucket. A range of working models will also be on display.

The open days will take place from 2pm to 4pm on: Saturday 14 April; Saturday 16 June; and Saturday and Sunday 8–9 September. Admission to all the events is free. For further information contact Paul C. Thompson on tel: (07889) 286634.
