New Volvo excavator for Urban Regen

Volvo EC380E excavator

Bolton-based demolition contractor strengthens plant fleet with new addition of Volvo EC380E excavator

JOINING two smaller Volvo excavators purchased earlier in the year, an EC250D and EC300D, the new Volvo EC380E is the largest excavator purchased by Urban Regen and has been put to work at an ongoing land remediation project in Cheshire.

Equipped with a Stage IV Final-compliant 13-litre engine, the EC380E model develops 306hp and is ideally matched to its automatic sensing mode hydraulic system.

Volvo’s unique Eco mode contributes up to 9% of the machine’s total improved efficiency over the D models – without any loss of performance in most operating conditions. As well as improving fuel efficiency, this increases controllability for more precise performance.

Volvo’s integrated work mode system offers the operator a choice of five work modes according to the task in hand – I (Idle), F (Fine), G (General), H (Heavy) or P (Power) – for optimum efficiency and machine performance.

When the controls have been inactive for a pre-set amount of time, the excavator can be programmed to automatically reduce engine speed or even shut down to further reduce fuel consumption and noise. Operators can keep track of both current and average fuel consumption via a simple gauge in the cab.

In addition to the standard hammer/shear hydraulic circuit, the new machine has been fitted with a heavy-duty screen guard to protect the cab windscreen and operator from debris.

This latest Volvo excavator was selected by Urban Regen following a competitive tender process. According to the firm’s managing director Andy Walker, the product performance of the earlier two machines together with Volvo’s after-sales support clinched the deal for Volvo CE. All three excavators are covered under Volvo’s Blue Service Agreement packages.
