New specialist plant hire company in Scotland

Former Blue Machinery man Kieran O’Kane launches Advanced Material Processing

ADVANCED Material Processing Ltd (AMP) – a new business launched in January 2016 by Kieran O’Kane, formerly of Blue Machinery Scotland – offer short- and long-term hire and contracting services for materials processing plant and equipment for the quarrying, recycling, demolition and allied industries.

AMP say they have hit the ground running and already have a number of machines out on site only a few weeks since inception. The AMP plant fleet includes mobile crushers, screeners and shredders, all sourced from world-renowned brands such as Powerscreen and Doppstadt.

Two Powerscreen PT400 jaw crushers were the first machines purchased, one being the new pre-screen model. Both mobile crushing plants were put to work immediately – one on a contract crushing job and the other on various hires with demolition contractors.

The crushers were quickly followed by the addition of a Powerscreen Chieftain 2100X mobile screening plant, which is currently on a long-term hire screening and stockpiling sand and gravel.

The environmental side of the business is also up and running, with a Doppstadt SM620 trommel joining the fleet and immediately going out on long-term hire processing green waste and biomass. In this instance, AMP’s customer was so happy with both the machine and the service received that a further hire contract for two more trommels has been awarded.

All the machines in AMP’s fleet have been purchased from Blue Machinery Scotland, and plans are afoot to purchase further machines over the next three months, including a slow- and high-speed shredder.

Ultimately, AMP’s objective is to have a 25-strong fleet of crushers, screeners, shredders and trommels to service quarrying and recycling customers throughout Scotland.

The company’s strategic advantage is centred on Mr O’Kane’s reputation and extensive experience, along with the contacts and strong relationships built up over 30 years working in the industry. He also has an engineering background and, prior to Blue Machinery Scotland, worked all over the world with Powerscreen.

Commenting on the new business venture, Mr O’Kane said: ‘Having worked with Blue Machinery Scotland for so long, it gave me a great understanding of the industry in Scotland and what quarry, site and recycling managers need from their machines from a hire and contracting perspective.

‘We’ve quickly developed a strong team at our new facility in Stirling, with trained and experienced field service engineers and support personnel already in place to provide the best possible engineering and administrative back-up to complement a modern and versatile fleet of plant and equipment.’
