New senior appointment at Viridor

Inder Poonaji

Company strengthens its UK team with the appointment of Inder Poonaji as director of sustainability and SHEQ

VIRIDOR, one of the UK’s largest recycling and renewable energy companies, have appointed a new director to spearhead their sustainability and health and safety operations. From 1 September 2015, Inder S. Poonaji takes up his position as director of sustainability and safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ).

In his new role, Mr Poonaji will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and policies to meet the highest possible SHEQ standards across the company and to ensure sustainability is at the forefront of all business decisions. He will also lead a major management change programme to achieve these objectives.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Poonaji said: ‘I am excited to be joining Viridor and believe my knowledge and skills will complement the industry-leading work the team is already doing in areas such as the circular economy, recognizing the value in material and resources, and fulfilling the company’s purpose of giving the world’s resources a new life.’

Simon Catford, HR and regulatory director for Viridor, added: ‘The knowledge and experience Inder brings to the business, together with the talent and skills we already have within the company, will further strengthen Viridor’s position as one of the UK’s leading recycling, renewable energy and waste-management companies.’
