New management appointment at Schaeffler UK

Sally Sillis

Automotive and industrial supplier appoints Sally Sillis as industrial services and MRO manager

GLOBAL automotive and industrial suppliers Schaeffler have appointed Sally Sillis as industrial services and MRO manager at Schaeffler (UK) Ltd. In this newly created role, she will be responsible for all industrial services and MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) in the UK and Ireland.

Supported by the Schaeffler Technology Centre (STC) and the regional sales engineers, Ms Sillis will be responsible for the sustained growth of industrial services provided to plant operators (MRO) and plant manufacturers (OEM), including bearing failure analysis, online and offline condition monitoring, bearing mounting/dismounting, bearing reconditioning, customer training and consultancy.

Growth is also expected to come from increased sales of hardware, including condition-monitoring systems, bearing fitting and maintenance tools, and lubrication equipment.

Based at Schaeffler (UK) Ltd in Sutton Coldfield and reporting to industrial sales director Leigh Hopkins, Ms Sillis will provide co-ordination between the STC and the UK sales team.

‘I’m excited to be taking on this newly created role,’ she said. ‘I’m particularly excited about the recently introduced FAG SmartQB, a unique, easy-to-install solution for the monitoring of electric motors, pumps and fans. When changes occur in the behaviour of the equipment, a simple text message is displayed on the touch panel screen to explain the potential cause of the defect. It’s a user-friendly but extremely powerful monitoring solution.’

Ms Sillis joined Schaeffler UK in 2005 as product support engineer, with responsibility for providing technical support for MRO and OEM customers in the rail industry.

In 2011 she was appointed as industrial manager at Schaeffler South Africa Pty, based in Johannesburg. Here she was responsible for all direct sales to customers in the region, gaining valuable experience and expertise in various sectors, including mining and quarrying.

In October 2016 Ms Sillis moved back to the UK and worked in a technical role at the Schaeffler Technology Centre in Sutton Coldfield, until her appointment as industrial services and MRO manager in January.
