New Komatsu excavators

Marubeni-Komatsu have introduced two new wheeled excavators which are the result of an intensive three-year design, testing and evaluation programme undertaken by Komatsu UK.

The PW200-7 and PW220-7 have operating weights of 20 tonnes and 22 tonnes, respectively, and complete Komatsu’s five-model line-up of wheeled machines. The operator’s cab features: a pressurized, climate-controlled interior; a new seat design; improved viscous-damped mountings; and a low noise level of 72dBA at the driver’s ear.

Both models are powered by a Komatsu six-cylinder, Tier 11 diesel engine developing 118kW (158hp) driving via a fully automatic powershift transmission. To provide on-site and hill-climbing performance, with the benefit of a 12-tonne drawbar pull, one of three travel-speed ranges can be selected giving a choice of 0–2km/h, 0–9km/h and 0–35km/h. Both models also offer high lifting performance and stability.

To control and monitor all vital functions, both machines feature Komatsu’s equipment-management and monitoring system that places a wide range of functions, working modes and operating information directly at the operator’s fingertips.

The PW200 has a standard overall width of 2.55m, accepting 2.55m wide chassis attachments, while the PW220 measures up to 2.75m with similar-sized attachments. If required, the PW200 can be specified with the same 2.75m wide axles as its stablemate. For maximum operating versatility, a variety of bolt-on attachments are available for both machines with a choice of hydraulic circuits to suit different equipment.
