Publication shows cement producers how to gain more bearing life from their plants

BEARING specialists NSK have released a new brochure outlining innovative bearing and material technologies and how they can help cement plant operators get more service life, improve efficiency and reduce maintenance costs under the most challenging operating conditions.

The publication, entitled ‘Bearings for the Cement Industry’, covers all areas of cement production – quarrying and extraction; crushing, grinding and blending; material preparation; pre-homogenization; clinker grinding; and conveying, packing and shipping. It achieves this with the help of a comprehensive graphic of a typical cement plant, and provides lists of bearing types that deliver improved performance in each specific plant area.

Included in the new brochure are the company’s TF series bearings, which are said to offer up to 10 times service life of standard bearings under conditions of contaminated lubricant – a common occurrence in cement mills. Developed using special heat-treatment technology, TF series bearings – cylindrical roller, spherical, deep grooved and tapered roller – also offer a 40% improvement in seizure resistance and up to four times the service life of standard bearings at 160°C.

In addition to the TF series, NSK have developed another solution for bearings that are difficult to access and/or are used in places where oil- and grease-absorbing dust is produced. This technology, Molded Oil (TM), can transform the performance of bearings used in cement plants by replacing existing, and often costly, methods of lubricating machine parts.

The brochure also details NSK’s Asset Improvement Programme (AIP). For a free copy of Bearings for the Cement Industry, contact NSK on tel: (0500) 2327 464.
