New fleet of Caterpillar machines for P Flannery

Caterpillar dozer

Plant hire firm invests £16 million in new Cat equipment including the UK’s first D6N dozers

P FLANNERY Plant Hire Ltd have placed a £16 million order for 148 new Caterpillar machines from Finning, including the UK’s first purchase of two new Cat D6N dozers and, for the first time, the business has invested in Caterpillar telehandlers.

The new equipment will be delivered during 2015, with each unit benefitting from Caterpillar’s Finsight equipment monitoring solution, helping to optimize machine service and productivity. Flannery customers will also be able to benefit from the advanced fuel efficiency of the new fleet and the range of attachments available for the telehandlers.

The fleet deal comprises a variety of Cat mini, medium and large excavators, general construction telehandlers, 730C and 740B articulated dumptrucks, and D6T and D6N dozers. Cat Finance has also been used by Flannery as part of the package, along with three-year/6,000h warranty and service support on a number of the machines.

Flannery director Patrick Flannery said: ‘The latest deal with Finning is the first time we have invested in Caterpillar general construction telehandlers. We have seen increased demand in the Cat TH414 model category in particular, as the market picks up. In addition, we have seen demand for dozers coming back and being the first company to offer the Cat D6N for hire will be a real asset to our business.

‘We are definitely seeing customers are far more focused on fuel burn and productivity. This is why within this deal, we looked to combine the new equipment with the backup of the Finning Finsight engineering team who will be monitoring our units no matter where they are in the UK. Critically for our business, it is all about how we service our customers and this is why we keep coming back to Finning, as their understanding of our organization and partnership approach really does make an important difference.’

Matt Revell, Finning sales representative for the South East, added: ‘Flannery are a well-known player in the plant hire market, with a very large and diverse fleet. With this deal, we have broken into its telehandler fleet offering for the first time. This is vital to us, as more customers are going to be exposed to these types of machines. The continued focus on service is also very positive, as we are able to make a real difference to the end-users experience through preventative maintenance.’
