National expansion plan for Interlift

Kevin Chalmers

Company shakes off the shackles with six new UK locations as part of nationwide roll-out

LIFTING and materials handling specialists Interlift are expanding their UK presence to an additional six locations, as part of a proposed nationwide roll-out, less than six months after their acquisition by national hire firm Hewden.

The move will see Interlift, who currently have depots in Middlesbrough, Hull and Glasgow, extend their offering to Hewden sites in Grangemouth, Newcastle, Immingham, Leeds, Bedford and Wokingham.

Interlift provide a range of lifting products and accessories, including hoists, lifting straps, shackles, beam and plate clamps, height safety and man-riding equipment.

Kevin Chalmers, operations director for lifting solutions at Interlift, believes the roll-out is great news for customers.

‘In layman terms, Interlift’s business is really about what happens under the hook,’ he said. ‘It’s no secret that Hewden have invested significantly on their cranes and lifting business this year, including an £11.5 million order for Tadano cranes. Our range of products supports and complements that investment perfectly.

‘Since the acquisition, we’ve seen unprecedented interest in Interlift products. While in theory we could transport equipment anywhere, by expanding across the Hewden network we’re in a much stronger position to quickly and effectively service our customers’ lifting requirements.’

The roll-out will also see Hewden invest further in the Interlift range of products.

‘As we expand into new areas, we need to invest in new products. Our aim, as with all Hewden assets, is to have the most comprehensive range of products available to the industry. We will be investing significantly over the next 12 months to make that happen,’ added Mr Chalmers.
