MPQC chairman retires

John Wilkinson and Hefin Jones

Hefin Jones of Aggregate Industries steps down; Karen Wright of Hanson UK named new chairman

HEFIN Jones stepped down from his role as chairman of the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) on 15September, due to retirement from his position at Aggregate Industries.

MPQC’s chief executive officer, John Wilkinson (left of photo), presented Mr Jones with a token of appreciation at last week’s Council meeting and said a few words in his honour: ‘Hefin has served as chairman for many years and I would like to thank him, on behalf of MPQC, for all his hard work and commitment to the success of our organization throughout the years.

‘Hefin will be sorely missed and it is testament to his dedication to the role that MPQC’s presence in the sector continues to thrive.’

Two Council members nominated themselves as potential candidates to replace Mr Jones and a ballot was held at last week’s meeting, from which Karen Wright of Hanson UK was announced as the new MPQC chairman.

Mr Wilkinson said: ‘We look forward to working closely with Karen and are sure that she will bring a great deal of knowledge and enthusiasm to the role.’
