Mining Magazine award for Metso Truck Body

Metso Truck Body

Metso Truck Body voted winner of Mining Magazine’s Load and Haul award 2019

THE Metso Truck Body has received the 2019 Mining Magazine award in the ‘Load and Haul’ category.

The annual awards recognize outstanding new technologies, initiatives and equipment performance across a range of categories in the mining sector. Winners are nominated and voted on by the magazine’s readers around the world.

The Metso Truck Body is a one-piece hybrid haul-truck body that combines the benefits of rubber and high-strength steel. The elastic rubber lining absorbs the energy of every impact, allowing for a lighter steel structure underneath.

Thanks to the characteristics of the rubber, the Metso Truck Body can absorb maximum shock at the lowest possible weight, which means that more payload can be hauled per trip, while the long-lasting rubber lining reduces the need for maintenance. The result is lower overall operating costs.

‘Our truck bodies weigh 20–30% less than OEM bodies and can haul up to 12% more payload, which improves process efficiency. In addition, the rubber lining significantly enhances the working environment by lowering the noise level by 50% (10–15 dB) and reducing vibrations by up to 97%,’ said Lars Skoog, vice-president of loading and hauling solutions at Metso.

The Metso Truck Body was launched at Bauma 2019 and is available for all major off-highway truck models used in quarrying and mining operations. Customers who already have the Metso Truck Body in operation include Norwegian aggregate producers Norsk Stein.
