UK bucket manufacturer joins specialist Swedish steelmaker’s Hardox brand programme

ONE of the UK’s largest bucket manufacturers has achieved quality certification from a globally renowned highly specialized steel company. Based in the North East and with operations across the globe, Miller UK have joined Swedish steelmaker SSAB’s ‘Hardox In My Body’ brand programme.

Designed to signify the quality and long-term performance of products that contain genuine Hardox, the world’s leading abrasion-resistant steel wear plate, the programme is utilized by hundreds of leading global manufacturers.

As one of the very few companies of its kind to be involved in the scheme, Miller’s mining buckets and extreme service buckets, both incorporating Hardox 450 in their shell and wear package, will now leave the company’s premises with a Hardox In My Body sticker to demonstrate they have been built with the finest and hardest steel.

Miller UK have recently launched their own Site Solutions division which specializes in repairs and maintenance, as well as custom design and build services. The division’s facilities extend across 16,950 sq ft and house state-of-the-art equipment, including overhead cranage and specialist line boring, for the manufacture of larger buckets that are shipped around the world.

Commenting on Miller joining the Hardox In My Body scheme, Conor Thompson, Site Solutions manager at Miller UK, said: ‘We are delighted to have been certified on this programme in recognition of the quality of our buckets. Using Hardox has always been very important to Miller as it is the very best abrasion-resistant steel in the market, ensuring that our buckets are extremely hard-wearing for even the toughest of applications.’

Miller buckets with the Hardox In My Body symbol will be used to handle rock ranging from limestone to granite, basalt and other hostile materials. The combination of extreme wear resistance, strength and toughness of Hardox 450 in the build of a bucket significantly extends its service life and increases its performance, even when used in the most challenging environments.

Steven Haugh (right of picture), regional sales manager at SSAB, said: ‘We have been greatly impressed by Miller’s manufacturing and quality processes and we’re thrilled to welcome a company of this calibre to the Hardox in My Body programme, joining the world’s very best manufacturers.’
