Metso celebrate Lokotrack milestone in Germany

Metso Lokotrack LT120 jaw crusher

Finnish manufacturer completes its 500th Lokotrack delivery in the country

METSO have sold their 500th Lokotrack machine in Germany – supplying a new LT120 jaw plant to Andres Erdarbeiten GmbH during Steinexpo 2017. Globally, total sales of Lokotracks now exceed 7,000 units.

‘Our German customers showed immediate interest in the mobile, track-mounted Lokotrack crushing plant concept after commercial production began at our Tampere Works in 1985,’ said Hugo van Benthem, distribution manager for Metso Germany.

‘They quickly noticed that the track-mounted units were more economical while the crusher could be moved on to rocks.’

The first Lokotrack deliveries to Germany in the late 1980s included mainly two-stage plants for crushing and screening in hard rock quarries. A typical combination was a tracked LT100 jaw unit and LT1100 cone plant. German contractors ABAG purchased the models over 30 years ago and, according to Metso, are still running the same crushers, highlighting the longevity of the Lokotrack range.

Joachim Höft, Metso's sales manager for Germany, commented: ‘Today, Metso's Lokotracks used in Germany cover well all customer segments, from light, easy-to-transport contracting and recycling plants to sturdy, high-capacity mobile crushing in quarries. Our German customers also favour Metso's in-the-pit primary crushing concept with the jaw plant connected to a mobile conveyor system.’

While Metso Germany are responsible for the sale and distribution of the plant/ equipment side of the business, the contractor units are supplied through two authorized distributors in Germany – Fischer Jung and HSB.

Thorsten Plew, managing director of Fischer Jung, said: ‘Good reputation, reliability using first-class components, high crushing and screening efficiency and excellent resale value are the backbones for our successful Lokotrack deals in Germany.’
