Lafarge Aggregates have introduced what is believed to be the UK’s first 44-tonne, six-axle articulated truckmixer to their ready-mixed concrete fleet.

Operating from Mountsorrel Quarry and with a carrying capacity of 10m3, Lafarge say the new vehicle will increase productivity and flexibility by delivering greater volumes and reducing the number of round trips.

Built around a Scania tractor unit designed to operate at 44 tonnes, the vehicle features a Liebherr HTM 1204S hydraulically driven mixer assembly for rapid loading and discharge, a sophisticated air-suspension system for maximum manoeuvrability on uneven ground and numerous safety devices including a reversing camera, reverse warning and xenon and other high-visibility beacons.
