Lafarge enhance innovation in China

Company opens Sustainable Construction Development Lab and signs university alliance agreement

LAFARGE have opened their first Sustainable Construction Development Laboratory in China and signed an alliance agreement with Chongqing University.

Located at Lafarge Shui On’s Nanshan plant, in Chongqing, the 1,000 square meter Sustainable Construction Development Lab will house 30 technicians and is the first facility of its kind to be opened by the Lafarge Group.

As an extension of the company’s research and development centre in Lyon, France, the new laboratory is fully equipped with Lafarge’s cutting-edge technologies. Its mission is to develop new and advanced construction materials products and solutions for customers in China, based on local materials and conditions.

In addition, Lafarge have partnered with Chongqing University through an alliance agreement that will join the resources of both parties in research of mutual interest. This will include training and research programmes with PhD students focusing on the advancement of construction materials, with the aim of developing innovative construction materials and final products for the Chinese market using indigenous raw materials.
