Joy Global invest in conveyor production facility

Joy Global, leaders in high-productivity mining solutions with over 126 locations worldwide, have made a significant investment in their Sunderland facility.

The factory, which specializes in the manufacture of conveyors and conveyor components, has increased the capacity and efficiencies of roller production to a new level. The investment comes in the form of two fully automated, completely bespoke roller manufacturing lines that offer 100% inspection of materials. These lines have doubled the company’s roller manufacturing capacity and provide benefits for use in a large variety of applications around the world.

Neil Hargrave, head of sales, said: ‘The investment from the Joy Group gives real confidence to the work force at Sunderland that we are heading in the right direction, and we have now turned the corner following the tough market conditions noted after the recession. The new lines open up new markets in the UK and Europe in which we couldn’t have previously competed. Already we are reaping the benefits seeing base business growth and bookings up by 60% on this time last year. It’s exciting times for us as we continue to work on continuous improvement programmes and actively develop new technologies.’
