Hyva tipping cylinder proves its worth to Inglenorth Contracting

Hyva FC137 tipping gear

Versatile FC137 tipping gear offers a unique combination of lightweight and heavy-duty operation

IN the demanding world of site clearance, demolition and muckaway, the equipment tipper operators need to use has to offer a high-level of heavy-duty performance.

Addressing this operating requirement, Hyva launched their FC137 tipping cylinder into the UK market, an all-new separate ram and tank design that has one notable feature above all others - an average weight (depending upon its specification for individual tipper chassis) of just 450kg.

According to Hyva, not only is the FC137 tipping gear some 40kg lighter than the company’s previous heavy-duty combined ram and tank cylinder, but at 450kg, the unit also matches the lightest cylinders from the competition that are specifically not offered for heavy-duty applications.

As a result, the FC137 tipping gear offers tipper operators a unique combination of lightweight and heavy-duty operation, as Lancashire-based Inglenorth Contracting discovered.

‘We took a pair of DAF CFs fitted with Abba heavy-duty steel bodies and the FC137 a year ago, and they’ve been absolutely faultless,’ said Stuart Campbell, general manager of Inglenorth. ‘The trucks have to turn their hand to any job whatsoever, with some 90% of their time working on demolition, site clearance and muckshifting. In such an arduous environment, complete vehicle reliability is always our primary operating requirement.’

Operating its own recycling facility, Inglenorth tippers bring all manner of demolition materials in for reprocessing. The company’s crushing facilities ensure brick, concrete and stone are easily transformed into valuable sub-base products, piling mats and road construction materials.

As a key part of Hyva’s latest Alpha range of tipping cylinders, the FC137 unit’s low-weight and high performance provides tipper operators with great versatility. The tipping cylinder also has a lift capacity of 32 tonnes, making it capable of handling a wide variety of 8x4 applications.

Tony Davies, managing director of Hyva, said: ‘Our FC137 tipping unit offers a blend of low weight and high performance that no competitive tipping gear can match. When tippers have to do one job one day and something else the next, FC137 takes everything in its stride. And customers such as Inglenorth operating at the most demanding end of our industry prove the point that FC137 is the ideal tipping cylinder for almost everyone.’
