Hyundai HX300 L for Excel Excavations

HX300 L

Manchester-based firm takes delivery of first 30-tonne HX-series excavator to be sold in the UK

EXCEL Excavations, based in Trafford Park, Manchester, have taken delivery of the first 30-tonne Hyundai HX300 L hydraulic excavator to be sold in the UK from Irlam-based Hyundai dealers HES Enterprises.

According to Excel owner/director Allan Sice, a key reason for the purchase of the new Hyundai machine was safety. ‘Safety plays a huge part in the work we carry out and our contractors demand the safest machines on their jobs,’ he said.

‘The new HX300 has a 360°camera system where the operator can see all around the machine with nine different views, including a 3D bird’s-eye view. The system can also warn the operator if people or objects come into the machine’s operating range.’

The new HX300 L, one of the most powerful and ergonomic machines from Hyundai’s new HX excavator range, is fitted with a Stage IV-compliant 180kW Cummins engine.

The HX range boasts a 90% reduction in PM and NOx compared with the previous 9A series of machines. To achieve this, Hyundai have chosen a combined EGR and SCR technology solution, which results in a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 12%, depending on the type of operation, compared with the 9A series.

In addition, the HX300 L is fitted with an ECO gauge which displays engine torque and fuel efficiency, as well as indicating the average fuel consumption rate and total amount of fuel used.

The cab on the HX-series machines has been redesigned with 13% more space for the operator and a new, larger front screen, while a newly developed air-conditioning system provides better air circulation. Another key innovation on the new HX series is a larger, easy-to-read, 8in touch-screen monitor – which can be operated when wearing gloves.

Moreover, the HX300 L is fitted with Hyundai’s Hi-Mate satellite-based remote-management system. At the press of a button users can remotely evaluate machine performance, access diagnostic information and verify machine locations, or even program a virtual ‘geo-fence’ to prevent the machine from leaving a specific area.

Four different arms options are available for the HX300 L, as well as a long-reach boom and arm combination. Hyundai say the HX300 L is also well suited for use as a tool carrier for heavy demolition equipment.
