Hillhead 2012 was bigger and better for Kingfisher

Kingfisher Industrial at Hillhead 2012

With a record number of exhibitors and visitors attending from all over the world, Hillhead 2012 was a success for the organizers and likewise Kingfisher Industrial. Albeit the weather varied from one extreme to the next in terms of sunshine and rainstorms it didn’t deter the visitors from experiencing new and innovative equipment, technologies and services being offered by international exhibitors.

Kingfisher were pleased with the response to two new product launches they made at this year’s show. In recently signing an exclusivity agreement with an abrasion-resistant polymer pipe supplier, we are now introducing the product to the many industries in which we operate and the initial feedback from visitors to the stand bodes well for the future.

The system signifies an opportunity in being able to offer a lightweight, abrasion- and corrosion-resistant solution that suits applications where traditional steel or ductile iron pipes are not suitable due to being too heavy, offering insufficient abrasion- or corrosion-resistant properties and where ceramic-lined pipework would be over engineered and too expensive for the application. This middle-of-the-road solution will be targeted at the quarry, power and mining industries where its characteristics will lend itself to solving continual problems associated with the hydraulic transportation of slurries, ash and minerals.

John Connolly, Kingfisher managing director, commented: ‘Hillhead is a stand-out show for us, as we have a high level of specialization when it comes to serving the quarry, mineral processing and recycling industries. The feedback we have received this year is far more positive than in 2010 and we have taken a variety of sales leads ranging from supply of products for £1,000 to full turnkey projects for circa £250,000. Extending plant life, reducing maintenance and downtime have all been key subjects – with an even greater focus on delivery than ever before.’

As a total solution provider for wear-protection systems, Kingfisher exhibited their full range of wear-protection lining systems at Hillhead 2012, including: ceramics, metallics and polymers. By incorporating these systems into process plant and equipment, Kingfisher were able to demonstrate to visitors how maintenance costs can be reduced substantially and the operating life and performance of quarrying and mining equipment, such as crushers, storage hoppers, screens, washing barrels, chutes and pipework, extended considerably.
