Hanson supply concrete for Midland Metro Alliance project

MMA project

Company providing 45,000 cubic metres of specialist concrete for Wolverhampton tram extension scheme

HANSON UK are supplying concrete for part of the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA) tram extension projects, one of the UK’s biggest construction projects outside London.

The venture consists of six separate projects and Hanson is providing 45,000 cubic metres of specialist concrete for the track beds on one of these schemes.

The contract with Colas Rail, one of the nine organizations that make up the MMA, is already under way and forms part of the renewal of the existing line in Wolverhampton.

The £1.35 billion tram project, which will take place over 10 years, will improve transport links in the West Midlands and aid regeneration, as well as providing local jobs and training.

Sara Ann Pepper, national commercial manager at Hanson, said: ‘The Midland Metro Alliance is an exciting partnership and we are delighted to be involved in this early stage.

‘Providing materials for the maintenance of the existing line allows us to understand the needs of the client and help develop effective solutions to meet key project milestones.’
