GRS announce second acquisition of 2017

GRS acquire bagged aggregate operations

Independent materials group purchases two bagged aggregate operations from Aggregate Industries

GRS, one of the UK’s leading independent materials trading groups, have announced their second acquisition of the year just days after completing the purchase of Cornish company Maen Karne.

Two bagged aggregate operations – in Staffordshire and Devon – have been purchased the GRS Group from Aggregate Industries for an undisclosed sum.

GRS say the additional facilities will enhance their local offering in the Midlands and South West, and secure the firm’s place as the UK’s number one packed aggregate supplier.

The plants are located at Barton-under-Needwood (near Burton upon Trent) and Uffculme (near Taunton).

Jon Fisher, chief executive officer of GRS, commented: ‘Along with the purchase of Maen Karne, this acquisition reflects our optimism in the economy and the building industry.

‘Over the next few weeks we’ll be working to ensure a seamless transition for existing customers of the two plants, so they start to experience the high levels of service we’re able to provide, coupled with an extensive range of core, decorative and specialized aggregates.’
