‘Game-changing’ portable plant solution from Metso

Metso NW Series

New Metso NW Series offers full-scale crushing and screening plant setup in just 12 hours

METSO have introduced what they claim is a ‘game-changing’ crushing and screening plant solution. The new Metso NW Series enables rapid plant setup in less than 12h, without the need for heavy cranes, allowing customers to move the equipment from site to site more easily than ever.

According to Metso, the NW Series is the first and only wheel-mounted crushing plant on the market that fits compactly into standard 40ft (12m) containers, so that it can be transported quickly and cost-efficiently by road, sea or rail.

The combination of a Metso NW106 primary jaw crushing plant and an NW220GPD secondary cone crushing plant with a large dual-slope screen has been optimized for regular relocation. Hydraulically adjustable support legs, hopper walls and screen lifting facilitate fast installation and dismantling on site. The plant has also been designed to be very easy and safe to operate and maintain.

‘Setting up a conventional portable crushing and screening plant often requires preparations with foundations and certain other site conditions. The new Metso NW Series plant solution is designed to avoid all these challenges, and only minimal preparations on site are required,’ explained Eric Lavieville, Metso’s global product manager for portable plants.

A completely new plant conveyor design with fewer support legs makes setup quick and simple; no heavy cranes or concrete foundations are needed. Moreover, service platforms on the conveyors make daily operations much easier and safer should the operator decide to stay on site for a longer period of time.

The typical capacity of the Metso NW Series portable plant with very hard feed material and four calibrated end products is said to be 20% greater compared with any conventional solution currently available in the same size class. This increased capacity is mainly achieved by the powerful Nordberg GP220 cone crusher and the new dual-slope screen.

The whole crushing and screening process can be precisely adjusted by Metso’s innovative new IC50C process control system, which comes as standard on the NW Series plant. Designed to form a seamless combination between the plant’s primary crushing stage and the secondary crushing and screening stage, the IC50C system has been developed to meet customer expectations for consistent production, safety and easy control of the entire process, which can be started and stopped at the push of a single button.

Feed and discharge conveyor control, wear compensation, auto setting adjustment and computer remote control are just a few of the many benefits that the IC50C system offers.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Metso have introduced two new screening product ranges for the aggregates industry: Metso Premier screens and Metso Compact screens, which are grouped by design features and capabilities to serve each individual customer’s unique needs.

The Premier screen range includes: the CVB inclined, circular-motion screen; the ES horizontal, elliptical-motion screen; and the TS multi-slope, variable-motion screen. These screens have long been Metso’s flagship vibrating products and are fully configurable to incorporate any type of screening media for maximum operational flexibility while achieving safe and simple maintenance.

The Compact screen range includes machines that have been incorporated with Metso’s mobile crushing and screening plants, but are now available for single-unit sales and use in stationary plants. These screens, including the CVB-M inclined screen with circular motion and the FS horizontal screen with elliptical motion, have a long history of utilization on Lokotrack mobile plants and Nordberg NW Series portable plants.

In addition to the CVB-M and the FS, the DF banana screen with linear motion will be offered for primary screening. All Metso Compact screens include carefully selected features in a standard configuration, including side-tensioned screening media (wire or synthetic), for easy, reliable and safe operation.
