Further calls for research proposals

THE Mineral Industry Sustainable Technology Programme (MIST) has announced its fifth call for proposals for research and development projects on environmental aspects of the UK minerals industries.

The programme, which is operated with funding from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, is open to both public and private sector organizations including academic institutions, commercial organizations, public sector agencies and associations. MIST will provide funding up to 50% of total eligible costs, with the proviso that projects are to be delivered in England.

Proposals are invited in four thematic areas: Environmental assessment procedures and tools; Site design, operation and closure; Knowledge and technology transfer; and Optimizing resource value. The deadline for submissions is 29 April 2005.

Also, MIRO has announced the third call for research proposals for the Sustainable Land-Won and Marine Dredged Aggregate Minerals Programme (SAMP), covering the period from April 2005 to March 2007. Once again, the deadline for submissions is 29 April 2005.
