Flexco expand product portfolio

Flexco have launched their new line of DRX impact beds that have been designed to maximize belt protection and offer ease of installation and maintenance for the user.

While most other beds rely only on the support bars to reduce impact, the DRX beds uses ‘Velocity Reduction Technology’ in their structural design. This, say Flexco, provides multi-level support, which effectively absorbs impact energy and minimizes transmission to the belt.

The DRX range – which comprises the DRX200, DRX750, DRX1500 and DRX3000 units – also gives the operator direct access to the bars and bolts for easy inspection and quick and safe maintenance, greatly reducing downtime.

The DRX impact beds meet CEMA standards and can be used in a variety of jobs, from light-duty sand and gravel applications to the most heavy-duty or extreme applications involving large bulk materials.

Another recently launched product from Flexco is their High-Temp ConShear pre-cleaner, which has been developed for applications with continuous ambient temperatures up to 135°C (275°F) and spikes up to 163°C (325°F).

The pre-cleaner features a patented, facet-profile blade design that provides a refreshed blade cleaning edge as wear reaches each facet, offering a more consistent cleaning performance. It also comes with a spring tensioner that moves the blade away from the belt when the splice passes, preventing potential damage and reducing cleaning disruption.

The blade’s proprietary urethane formula also provides higher abrasion resistance, resulting in extended operational life and fewer blade changes. A material path option on the pre-cleaner lets the user select the width blade for the material path on the belt, providing better cleaning and less re-tensioning maintenance.

For fast, easy maintenance and maximum performance, blade tension can be visually checked by measuring the tension spring to determine if the blade is at optimal tension; re-tensioning is performed by simply turning the adjusting nut.

The High-Temp ConShear pre-cleaner is available in 10 different belt widths, ranging from 12in to 72in, while the standard blade length for the belt width is –2in. Thanks to its extended blade wear life in high-temperature conveyor applications, the pre-cleaner can be used in a broad range of applications, including asphalt, limestone and clinker.

Flexco have also extended their range of products with the Eliminator chevron belt cleaner, which features a new approach to cleaning chevron, cleated and raised-rib belts.

Key to the Eliminator’s long working life and abrasion resistance is a 63mm ring containing hundreds of 50mm fingers that dislodge carryback from the belt, allowing it to fall with no abrasive wear or damage to the belt.

Moulded from SBR rubber, the self-cleaning fingers are securely attached to the ring, which is stretched to fit tightly on to the drum. This arrangement provides rotary cleaning action (when the belt runs) with minimal maintenance and effectively cleans mechanically spliced or vulcanized belts.

The drum has been specially designed for extended operational life, ranging from one to three years, depending on the application conditions and conveyed materials. Drum replacement and installation can be undertaken quickly, further reducing periods of downtime and maximizing productivity.

Suitable locations for the Eliminator chevron belt cleaner include: the point where the belt leaves the head pulley; under a hold-down roller; and areas where belts are installed as flat as possible. The belt cleaner is designed to work with belt sizes ranging from 18in to 60in, operating at speeds up to 500 ft/min and temperatures between –35°F and 180°F.

Another product from Flexco is their Flex-Seal skirting system – a containment unit, which, they say, fully seals loading zones; preventing spillage and leaks, controlling dust emissions and guarding against costly belt damage and mistracking.

The system’s angle plate positions the skirt rubber to the belt so the internal spring-back tension in the rubber creates the seal without any damage, while low contact pressure on the belt prevents grooving and excessive cover wear to prolong belt life.

Available in 4ft lengths, Flex-Seal is easy to install and maintain; each module includes two clamp pins, two clamp plates, a clamp bar and step-by-step installation instructions. Installation and maintenance tasks can be carried out from the sides of the conveyor.
