First Volvo machine for Bradley Demolition

Preston-based demolition contractors expand equipment fleet with new Volvo EC300E excavator

BRADLEY Demolition have strengthened their fleet of demolition equipment with the purchase of a Volvo EC300E excavator. According to Paul Johnson, managing director of Bradley Demolition, the 30-tonne machine, the company’s first Volvo excavator, was chosen after a detailed evaluation of the market and a competitive package on the table.

‘We needed to replace an existing 30-tonne machine for the fleet and considered the Volvo to be well specified with a superior build quality when we looked at the market,’ Mr Johnson commented. ‘The package on offer and the prospect of good residual values well into the future were also key features that helped us choose the new Volvo EC300E unit.’

Equipped with a Stage IV Final-compliant 8-litre engine (240hp), the Volvo EC300E excavator offers a number of work modes for the task at hand, ensuring a high level of performance and fuel efficiency. Modes available for the operator include: I (idle); F (fine); G (general); H (heavy); and P (power).

To meet Bradley Demolition’s specific requirements, the EC300E model is equipped with a heavy-duty screen guard and FOGS guard in the operator compartment. An optional triple hydraulic rotation circuit has been incorporated into the machine to accommodate the use of a full range of demolition tools, including rotating grapples, shears and pulverizers.

To further improve the efficient changeover of attachments, Bradley Demolition have invested in a Lehnhoff Variolock quick hitch. Each tool has a dedicated head that matches precisely to the hydraulic connections on the quick-hitch, thereby making connecting and uncoupling extremely fast, efficient and safe. It also reduces potential damage to hoses and couplings that could be prone to contamination when left attached to a tool not in use.

The Volvo Care Cab on the EC300E offers a large roomy interior with plenty of legroom and foot space. Excellent all-round visibility is enhanced by a 14-vent climate-control system and an adjustable easy-to-read LCD colour monitor provides real-time information on machine functions, key diagnostics and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a screen for a rear-view camera.
