Digging It bolster fleet with Hyundai equipment

Hyundai HX140L excavator

Demolition firm stays loyal to South Korean brand with the purchase of two new HX140L excavators

DIGGING It Groundworks Ltd, specialists in plant hire, civil engineering, demolition and other related services, have historically run a mixed fleet of hydraulic excavators buy other brands, including JCB, Volvo, Takeuchi and Kubota. However, in recent years the company has turned to Hyundai, with the first R140LC-9 machine purchased from Selwood Plant.

Ben Boare, managing director of Digging It, said the business recently turned to the Molson Group to meet its machinery requirements and one of the first Hyundai machines supplied by them was a used R145LCR-9A compact radius machine, followed by a 22-tonne R220LC-9A and an HL757-9 wheeled loading shovel.

Digging It’s latest Hyundai additions to their plant fleet include two new 14-tonne HX140L excavators. One of the company’s largest areas of business growth is in the concrete crushing and recycling sector. Digging It’s Andover site, for example, has become a hive of activity as the firm’s tippers, grab lorries and other haulers bring in waste material from sites around the county for processing.

The material coming in is processed by a fleet of mobile crushers operated by the company, including a Deutz-powered Rubble Master RM 70GO! which can produce high-quality products up to 120 tonnes/h. Digging It also run a Maximus 409 vibratory screening unit to supply a 10mm stone product and grid sand, both of which are sold to local civil engineering firms.

‘We focus on producing the best quality products we can,’ said Mr Boare, ‘as we don’t do the regular 6F5 material because everyone in this game is supplying that, but the 10mm and grid sand we produce are highly sought after in our area.’

Mr Boare has been clearly impressed by the new Hyundai excavators, which have been put straight to work loading concrete into the Rubble Master crusher. Powered by a four-cylinder Perkins 1204F-E44TAN turbocharged engine that delivers 124hp at 1,950 rev/min, the HX140L machines are now among the most popular models in the Digging It fleet.
