Deutz and Liebherr plan strategic alliance

Deutz TCD 9.0

Companies strengthen partnership with agreement on new diesel engine supply arrangements

DEUTZ AG and Liebherr Machines Bulle SA have agreed on the key aspects of a strategic alliance between the two companies. Under this arrangement, Liebherr intend to grant Deutz worldwide sales and service rights for Liebherr-built diesel engines (200–700kW) for a variety of applications.

These engines are being developed for the EU Stage V, US Tier 4, China IV and EU Stage IIIA emissions standards and thus meet the future statutory requirements regarding exhaust emissions. The engines will be available to Deutz for series delivery from 2019.

Deutz, who plan to sell the engines under their own brand to their customers, including via their network of dealers, say the Liebherr engines are an ideal fit with their own product portfolio.

It is also planned for Deutz to receive exclusive rights for the production of a 9-litre Liebherr engine in China. Furthermore, an expansion in the use of Deutz engines in Liebherr’s machines up to 150kW is planned.

Both companies say the agreement on the key points of their strategic alliance strengthens their long-standing and successful partnership. The two firms intend to draw up and sign contracts setting out the details of this strategic alliance soon.
