Detank set to take on the UK

Detank excavator

Two new Chinese-built Detank excavators put through their paces at Shire Oak Quarry

LAUNCHED just five years ago, Detank have quickly established themselves as one of the fastest-growing industrial brands in the world, with more than 300 distribution centres across the globe.

Most recently, in June 2014 the company marked a decisive inroad into the European markets with the launch of Detank UK.

Detank UK was started by Lash Saranna, the former managing director of Autobahn International, Europe’s largest independent Porsche distributor, and no stranger to guiding large business ventures.

All of Detank’s machines are manufactured in China by Chery Heavy Industry – a division of Chery, the largest car manufacturer in China and a partner in a joint venture with Jaguar and Land Rover – at their state-of-the-art, £68.3million production facility in Wuhu.

At a recent press event at Shire Oak Quarry in Walsall, two of Detank’s new excavators, the DE150B and the DE220B, were on display and demonstration.

The 15-tonne DE150B is equipped with a 0.6 cubic metre bucket and features a Cummins engine that provides 82kW at 2,200 rev/min. Both the travel motor and main pump are manufactured by Doosan, while the main valve is Toshiba.

The DE150B’s 22-tonne stablemate, the DE220B, is equipped with a 1.0 cubic metre bucket and has a Cummins engine capable of delivering 116kW at 2,000 rev/min. While the DE220B’s travel motor is also of Doosan design, its main pump, main valve, and rotary motor are manufactured by Kawasaki.

Commenting on the machines, Lash Saranna said: ‘These models utilize parts from established, world-leading manufacturers which complement the quality construction and engineering of our machines.

‘The result is a range of highly durable excavators which deliver outstanding performance and are economical to maintain – at a cost which is significantly less than those of our leading competitors.’

Already a well-established name in the Asian and South American marketplace, Detank say they aim to have representation in every country of the world by 2016.

Mr Saranna continued: ‘Our low price and high quality is making Detank a fixture at worksites across the globe. We have spent the past three years developing this latest range and, combined with our flexible finance packages, I think the quarrying industry will be impressed with what we have to offer.’
