Creating firm foundations in China
CEMEX have been appointed as the main concrete supplier for the foundations of the Gaoyin 117 project in Tianjin, China, which, upon completion, will be one of the tallest buildings in Asia.
So far, the company has supplied nearly 95,000 cubic metres of concrete for the underground engineering work on the project, which requires a total of 941 concrete piles.
‘The Gaoyin 117 project is a major milestone for CEMEX’s operations in Asia,’ commented Jaime Ruiz de Haro, CEMEX Asia Region president. ‘We are very proud to be the supplier of choice for what will be a landmark building in the Chinese landscape.’
At a height of 598m when completed, the Gaoyin 117 project will require over 500,000 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete in order to build its 117 stories.
The construction project, which began in 2008, will take between five and seven years to complete and involves a total investment of nearly $3 billion.
CEMEX operate four ready-mixed concrete plants in China, in the northern cities of Tianjin and Qingdao, and have a presence throughout Asia with operations in the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
