Responsible for all John Wainwright & Co. Ltd quarry operations and with 8.1.c. accountability, you will ensure a safe site at all times in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999. With a background in quarry management and compliance, you will drive excellence in all quarry activities, including safety, production, quality, customer service, environmental protection and staff management.
Supported by the Assistant Quarry Manager, you will manage a large complex site with a large team of quarry operatives and contractors. With great people-management skills, you will be experienced in engaging with staff and communicating effectively to get the best from your team and, ultimately, achieve required business outcomes.
Commercially minded, you will be aware of the importance of great customer service, ensuring not only adequate resource/supplies, but embedding a culture of professionalism and customer focus throughout the quarry. You will be forward thinking and keen to make improvements, monitoring and reporting by reference to key performance indicators, and introducing the required actions to drive change.
The holder of this role will be responsible for setting annual budgets for the quarry and monitoring and controlling those budgets. Experience of financial management/budgetary control would therefore be an advantage.
There will also be the opportunity to get involved in key projects, including future planning and development initiatives.
You will ideally have a strong quarry management background, an NVQ level 5 in quarry management and you will also be a member of the Institute of Quarrying. A strong a geotechnical and/or geological background would be advantageous.
