Quarry Manager

Keepershield quarry, Hexham, Northumberland

Hanson is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of construction materials and part of the HeidelbergCement Group.

We are seeking a quarry manager to work at our Keepershield quarry near Hexham.

Applicants need to be familiar with health and safety legislation and have a current working knowledge of statutory responsibilities. You must also be able to demonstrate knowledge gained by DAPS or similar, or through relevant experience.

Reporting to the operations manager, you will have full responsibilities under Section 8 of the Quarries Regulations and assist with the safe and efficient management of this hard rock quarry site. You will also manage Forcett quarry in North Yorkshire.

Strong organisational, people management and communication skills are essential, as is technical knowledge of fixed and mobile plant operations. Holding – or working towards – qualifications in shotfiring, blast design and SHE NVQ Level 4 will be a distinct advantage, as the successful candidate will ideally assume the role of explosives supervisor, though training will be provided.
