SWMPs

abbr. site waste management plans

A tool for construction companies and clients, of all sizes, to improve environmental performance, meet regulatory controls, and reduce rising costs of disposing wastes. Originally developed as a DTI Voluntary Code of Practice, SWMPs provide a structure for systematic waste management at all stages of a project's delivery. The requirement for SWMPs is due to become a legal requirement for all construction projects over £250,000 in April 2008.
