magnetic surveying

A method of geophysical prospecting using a magnetometer to measure variations in the Earth’s magnetic field over the area under investigation. Magnetic anomalies plotted on a map are used to indicate the probable position of rocks containing magnetic minerals in the sub-surface structure.
