  1. A type of flotation reagent. They are organic compounds which render selected minerals water-repellent by absorption of molecules on the mineral surface, thus enabling mineral particles to attach themselves to air bubbles on contact.
  2. A means of making an electrical connection between the moving parts of a machine and the supply, eg collector rings on an excavator.
